Principal Engineer
Usage data that drove renewal conversations
Inmarsat
Inmarsat needed sales teams to make better renewal and upgrade recommendations from customer usage data. USQ's Principal Engineer built the data and delivery platform behind a Salesforce-requested tool: BigQuery analytics resolved customer usage across 12 months, then distributed AWS Lambda workers generated slide decks with plan recommendations based on coverage, region and user count. The tool supported $50M in at-risk renewal and upgrade opportunities.

The sales tool
Sales teams requested the tool through Salesforce when a customer approached a renewal or upgrade. It produced a slide deck using the previous 12 months of usage, satellite coverage, regional factors and user count to recommend the most suitable plan.
The tool gave sales teams and partner resellers a practical basis for renewal and upgrade conversations.
Usage analytics
USQ's Principal Engineer built the BigQuery dbt project end to end: conceptual, logical and dimensional modelling, entity resolution across several domains, and the production data models behind the recommendations.
Some mart tables processed terabytes and took hours to build. A partition-driven rebuild, using custom variables and modules, made better use of BigQuery's strengths.
Delivery platform
Distributed AWS Lambda workers generated slide decks in parallel. The DynamoDB service was built to support concurrent demand and faster delivery.
Terraform provisioned and secured the data platform, including RBAC. dbt Cloud scheduling, PR validation and environment cascades were rebuilt in GitHub Actions, avoiding disproportionate per-seat costs while giving the team a dev-to-UAT-to-production workflow.
